Testimonials

"I recently engaged Symon Sweet at symonjames to work with me to co-ordinate the design of a wide range of materials for the British Art Show 7 – ‘In the days of the Comet’.

I was particularly impressed with his patience and level headedness in dealing with a complex range of partners and artists ensuring that all of their requirements were met. With such complexity it was inevitable that it would be a considerable challenge and he dealt with it by being pragmatic and professional from initial concept through to production. His commitment to his work is unparalleled and he has the ability to juggle flexibility and credibility without losing the confidence of all those involved.

symonjames designed digital, street and lamp-post banners, large street posters and of particular note, the impressive building wrap for the city’s Civic Centre. The building wrap is one of the most successful pieces of giant media that has been commissioned and will certainly raise the profile of the British Art Show to all those that live, work and visit Plymouth.

It’s reassuring to know that, as a client, whilst my working day can be very busy, Symon always remains constant. This can only be attributed to his experience, knowledge, and exemplary professionalism."

"symonjames assisted the Plymouth City Development Company with the development of an umbrella brand for enterprise promotion in the city ‘Making Plymouth Great’.  The branding was utilised across many forms of media – newspaper, banners and flags, leaflets, web site.  The branding was extremely successful and subsequently formed the basis of the city’s bid in the Enterprising Britain 2008 competition for which Plymouth was named regional winner.  The branding has also been adopted by many agencies and stake holders in the city when promoting complimentary activities.

Symon Sweet played a key part in the development of the concept from inception and his creativity and flexibility ensured that the project was completed in a very short time frame.  His commitment is always over and above that of his competitors, he truly provides excellent value for money and is a pleasure to work with."

"Symon has been involved in a number of high profile projects in the city and has a reputation for enthusiasm, creativity and for producing very strong, high quality visuals.

Following his work on a city branding project and on projects for the Council, we recently commissioned him to carry out a review of our corporate visual identity. The brief is to create a more modern and consistent identity to be used by all sections of the council. This is a considerable challenge given the size and complexity of the organisation but I have been impressed by his ability to assess all the issues, provide a clear and well presented rationale for his proposals and translate these into high quality designs and artwork.

As part of this process, Symon has engaged well with staff at all levels, including the chief executive and senior management team. All have given positive feedback.

I have been particularly impressed by Symon’s creative and pragmatic approach to dealing with urgent issues that have arisen during the

project. For example, he was able to turn around extremely quickly the design and implementation of new vehicle liveries for a new highways fleet operated by our private sector partners.

I would have no hesitation in recommending him."

A Corporate Client

"I have worked with Symon Sweet on a number of projects involving both my own company and more wide scale initiatives several times in the last seven years. He is a talented and resourceful designer who has provided me with fantastic advice and guidance of both new and old brand and marketing initiatives. His enthusiasm is second-to-none, and he uses this to fully immerse himself in, and thus understand, the projects he is working on. His work on the rebranding of my newspaper, The Herald, was exemplary and very reassuring at a time when the paper’s brand was undergoing perhaps its biggest change for more than 50 years. Symon was critical in turning what could have been seen as a series of negative moves into an incredibly positive exercise for the whole of my organisation.

I would happily recommend Symon to anyone looking for inspiration, enthusiasm, drive, and creativity backed with a great deal of knowledge, experience and

common sense."
